Welcome to the MAPP Premium Estimator

You have reached the Medicaid Purchase Plan (MAPP) premium estimator web site. The MAPP Premium Estimator will give you an approximate monthly premium amount. For an actual premium determination you should contact your County Economic Support Specialist.

What is MAPP?

The Medicaid Purchase Plan promotes the competitive employment and economic self-sufficiency of people with disabilities by assuring continued access to Medicaid (MA) for necessary health care services. MAPP allows working people with disabilities to qualify for MA under higher income and asset limits than standard MA. The goal of the program is to encourage people with disabilities to work and enjoy the benefits of being employed. MAPP provides access to the same services that you would have under any MA eligibility group.

You can be enrolled in both MAPP and your employer's health insurance. If you have access to private insurance, MAPP may be able to pay your premium for your employer sponsored insurance through the Health Insurance Premium Payments program (HIPP). Contact your County Economic Support Specialist. about HIPP.

To be eligible, you must:

  • Have a disability determination by the Social Security Administration or a MAPP disability determination
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have less than $15,000 of liquid assets (excluding your home, one vehicle, household goods, etc)
  • Have less than 250% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) gross income for your family size
  • Not be receiving an SSI cash benefit. If you are an SSI recipient who is earning at a level of income that eliminates your SSI cash benefit while maintaining your eligibility for SSI, you are most likely eligible. For an actual determination you should contact your County Economic Support Specialist..

Participants who have individual income above 150% of FPL will be required to pay a premium. Premiums will vary based on income. You can estimate what your monthly premium would be or estimate how increases in earnings affect your premium using the program below. For more information on MAPP eligibility and application contact your County Economic Support Specialist..

To estimate the MAPP premium you would pay, click the "Next" button and answer the questions on the calculator on the next page. To see how your premium would change if your income changed, fill in different income information and press "Calculate" again. You may round dollar amounts to the nearest $10.
